What a blast…

On Sunday 2 March, people gathered at the Malt Cross in Nottingham to celebrate both the official launch of Bolder and Wiser, as well as the connections and community that echo the spirit of the book and the women that took part. I was thrilled to welcome our special guest, Sue Bourne, award-winning director of the Channel 4 documentary, Fabulous Fashionistas. Sue generously gave of her time and energy to drive up from London and to delight us all with inspiring tales of the women that she featured in the film.

Local press coverage

I’ve been enjoying myself a lot with this – great fun to be featured in the Nottingham Post and Nottinghamshire Today, and interviewed on BBC Radio Nottingham. You can listen to the interview until Monday, and I’m hoping to get it uploaded to the site too in due course. It’s 3 hours 20 minutes into the broadcast, after Happy Hour by the Housemartins! It’s the first time I’ve done something like that and I was SO impressed by the presenter, Gareth Evans, and team behind him – they made it all feel so much easier than I was expecting. Great fun.

Huge thanks to…

…the Malt Cross and their staff, especially Jo Cox-Brown (Chief Exec) and Matt Buck (events manager). Watch this space, as they begin exciting developments in the floors and cave beneath the building that you see now. And there’s always the legendary hot chocolate too…

Shelley Draper, actress, was brilliant at reading excerpts from the book and we’re now hatching ideas about an audio version and very definitely keeping in touch. And Adam Smith, student on the Broadcast Journalism course at Nottingham Trent University, has worked wonders. With minimal input from me, he understood exactly what was required and delivered it well within our agreed deadlines. All fantastic! And of course big thanks to all the family and friends behind the scenes too.

Top tips to our younger selves

We asked people what their top tips were for their younger selves – and this is what they came up with – what are yours?

And a few more snapshots…
